Moon song

There's some words and a tune to a song that my Mom used to sing to us when we were kids and this picture reminds me of it.

"I see the moon and the moon sees me,
Down through the leaves of the old oak tree,
Please let the moon that shines on me,
Shine on the one I love!"

Tune for song of I see the moon - someone else's grandmother apparently sang this to her and she remembered more of the words than I do.

I See the Moon (full song) - here's another version of someone with a very nice voice singing the song.

Now this is really going back in time - a you tube video of a record player with the Stargazers singing the song!
Stargazers version

Here's a couple more "moon" pictures from recently.  We've been lucky to have clear skies and full moons lately...lovely!

May the moon shine down brightly on all of you and bring rays of light and love your way.

Bloomin' Winter Fantasy

A friend of mine gave me a special kind of blooming tea.  I had never heard of it before but it turned out great!  It was called Winter Fantasy and it came in a package looking like a giant dried seed:

The brochure described the ingredients as jasmine green tea, chrysanthemum and jasmine flowers; the functions as reduces internal heat and cleanses grease and impurities; and the personality as hardworking, smart, sensitive and loyal.  We enjoyed a few laughs about some of this!

The instructions were simple.  Place in boiling water for 10 minutes, watching carefully.

So that's what we did.  Watch carefully now.

Isn't that cool?  A flower blooms - a winter fantasy in my very own dining room!
We enjoyed a lovely cup o' tay after our corn chowder and quiche luncheon!
The above picture makes a lovely background for your computer so feel free to use it if you like. (right click on the picture and you should get an option that says "set as desktop background" or something like that.)

We'll have to have another lunch date soon - I have one more tea seed left!

Frosty days

Brrrr - cold but beautiful up here in the north!

Hanging by a thread:
Feathery, frosty, frozen!

I like this shot with the wire so black here:
Thick frost all right:

Santa's coming!

Here's proof: Santa's reindeer are practising out in the field right now in front of my house!
They don't want me to see them so they are hurrying off...now we just need to add a sleigh and the Big Ol' Man Himself!
Maybe he's over in the bushes doing a little business with the Elves...(something about that sentence doesn't sound as innocent as I meant it!)
Allrighty then - Back to the deer now-

"Awww, dang!" they say, "we've been spotted."
"Stand as still as a statue.  We'll blend right in.  This is a test for you, young Rudolph, because sometimes on Christmas Eve we have to stand really still so the little spying eyes don't see us.  Think you can handle it?"

"Noooooo...you're not allowed to move at all, baby Red."

"But...but...I just was helping the lady get a pretty picture for her Christmas cards!"

Little Princess

This little lovely one is my niece who joined our family at the end of last month - isn't she sweet!

I love the way she's holding her hand over her tiny face!  And don't forget to check out her tiny chin with the cutest cleft ever.  We love you little princess!

I want...

Top of my wish list:  A Kindle!!!  An electronic device that holds books and books and more books!  Plus pictures, music, a link to Facebook, a voice-to-text feature, a lovely leather case, and books - did I say I could buy digital books?? Oh and some books (the classics) are free - how could this be any more perfect?

This would be so cool for me to have!  The kids these days all have cell phones and i-pods, now it's my turn - right?  A kindle would be perfect - I could read and read and read!  I might even read a newspaper or two so I could have a clue of what's going on in the world!  And I can finally "get with the program" and own some electronic device that I could stick my face into!  Should I buy it? (200ish)

Biker boy

I really like how these pictures turned out, but guess what - I have no idea how this happened!  Maybe as I was following this little guy and clicking - I think that's called panning - it seemed to blur the background.  I like it!

Look at him racing back and forth - and I tell ya, he was FAST.  He's only freaking four years old too...what a sweet show-off biker boy!  Love him!

Fall Session

Had a fast, fun, fall photo session with some young teenagers tonight - a brother and a sister. I love it when the kids enjoy posing and look so dang good.

What a beautiful brother and sister.

Odd Paws

Check out the odd paws on this kitty cat...a little wonky wouldn't you say?

"My, what big feet you have Mrs. Kitty."
"...All the better for dancing with, my dears!"

It's That Time

Once again we find that it's time to fill our wood shed.  Here's one hard working man who really makes the shavings fly:
At least it was a nice day out and he looks like he's having fun!

Just a side note here - check out the strong arms he's got, notice the contours in the forearms eh?  Amazing.  And I like the logging chaps too.  Very cute isn't it!  And look...he's all color-co-ordinated too!  Poster Boy here is all set to do some hard work cutting wood since we've got to be prepared for those cold winter days that are coming up.  Luckily for me, I'll be warm from the woodstove and all wrapped up in Poster Boy's musculuar forearms!  Things are heatin' up eh?

Happy fall to you all.

Hang In There

The first week of school is almost over!

Gosh, I'm tired.  But I'm sure next week will be better once we are back into the whole routine and everything settles down.

Over all it has been a pretty good start up for the 2010-2011 school year.
Hang loose people!

What Is It

I've set this image as the desktop background on my computer and every time I see it, I feel a lurch.  What is it about this photo that pulls at my heartstrings so much?
Does it make you feel something or is it just another photo to you?  Is it my motherhood attachment to these two girls who just happen to be my daughters?   Or is it the balloons?  Maybe the hats?  The olden days appeal?  What is your take on why I go all "lurchy" when I see it and do you "lurch" at this photo or not?  My feelings won't be hurt no matter what you say, I'm just curious and I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Little Itty Bitty

Look what Tough Guy is holding onto!

Isn't this just the tiniest little frog you've ever seen?  It made us girls squeal with delight and Tough Guy felt really brave as he conquered the world and held Little Itty Bitty!
This next picture gives you a better idea of the size that we're talking about here.
Pretty tiny eh?

The girls wanted to touch it too...but....then...that darn Little Itty Bitty jumped away from their poking fingers and torpedeoed head first onto the concrete floor.  I think he wanted to fly, like, maybe he thought he was a bird or something.  He looked a bit stunned for a second but then he hip-hopped away as fast as he could.

He really did seem perfectly fine as he hopped off to safety while being seranaded by the girls' moans, ooo's and ahhhh's.  I just want to re-assure all you bleeding hearts out there that he did seem fine.  I promise!

What I wish had happened - because this family believes in kindness to all animal kind no matter their size - was this:

We gently admired Itty Bitty for a few minutes holding him no more than 2 millimeters above the ground just in case he jumped.  Then we carefully found a sheltered spot under the house, and nestled him in onto a lily pad with a pink flower right next to a spider web loaded with dead flies. Sadly, this is just a much preferred version!

Sometimes reality really bites.  Poor froggie got a head-ache.

But the moral of this frog story is if you fail at something, just sit for a minute, feel the pain, then hop on to safety and never go back there again!  Or you could choose to live in a fantasy world planning what you should have done...and then go back and try again!  Maybe froggies will fly one day!

Happy hoppin' everyone!

And This

And how could I ever live without this beautiful daughter in my life?

I couldn't.  I love her energy, her smile and laugh, her inquisitiveness and curiousity, her artistic abilities and talents, her sassy side and her serious side and all the sides in between, including her spiritual side, that make her the bundle of lovely-ness that she is.  My heart overflows with  love and appreciation of the young lady she is becoming...my daughter.

This Face

Oh, how I love this face:

And not just her beautiful face.  I am in awe of her spirit and everything about her.  Her personality, her loving and kind ways, her thoughtfulness, her skills, smarts and talents, her ability to excel, as well as her wild side, her sensible side and all the sides in between that make her the person that she is.  The very essence of her being fills my heart with love in a most wonderous way...my daughter.

Water Baby

This little one just loves the water!  Here we go, headin' in for a good time:

This is already so much fun!

Splashy, Splashy!  Perma-grin!  Splashy, Splashy!

This is a great day!  I love the water!
I'm having such a good time.  I don't even care that I have a swollen diaper!
Bubble-butt?! Who cares...
