Anyways, how's things hangin' for ya?
I wanted to share this story of a super sweet morning treat that I was given...for Mother's Day.
I slowly stirred myself from the snoozy state of sleepy slumber and snores on Sunday, and sadly lifted one eyelid to peer through my eyelashes at the light of a new day. Sigh, too early...not morning just yet, kay?! Closed my eyes again. Ahhh.
By the way, this is not me, and not my long witchy nose nor my pourous, veiny skin! For some strange reason though, my daughters don't believe me! -- What's that all about anyways?
I hate that they think I look like this!!!
Google images, I tell ya, that's where I got all the images for this post...honest!
(Anyways, thanks Google for your images that are Not Me but apparently look like me.)
A few minutes later, I was suprised to hear LJ and Kam creeping stealthily across the room.
Our floors do squeak, so they were hunching their shoulders and stepping wide steps with their elbows out while trying to be as silent as soft slippers when they checked in on me.A few minutes later, I was suprised to hear LJ and Kam creeping stealthily across the room.
I peeked at them but pretended to be asleep.
I covered my smile with the sheets.
Have any of you parents out there ever done that? I'd guess that you have. There's nothing like watching your kids work at creating a surprise for you. So precious.
Now this image - this I'd like to say was really me! But no, it's not either.
The girls must have been satisfied that I was still sleeping because they crept back out and went to the kitchen. I heard cupboard doors opening and closing, heard the rubber liner of the fridge door smulshing and smacking as it opened and closed, the toaster handle clicking as it slid down and locked into place, and the tea kettle coil hissing until it eventually clicked off.I heard water running, knives chopping, plastic crunching and feet walking but what I did not hear was voices! Why aren't they talking???
They must have been concentrating so hard on their plans...after all they aren't exactly known for spending a lot of time in the kitchen!
And maybe there was really no need to talk about it since they had figured everything out the night before.
After what seemed to be quite a while, the girls came into the room again.
This time, no creeping around...just a merry bunch of giggles and smiles and laughter all bursting out. Ahh - the noise is back!
I pretended to be just waking up, stretched and grinned with "surprise" at what they were doing.
They brought in my favorite big mug - filled to the brim with hot tea. They also brought a spoon, a bowl of sugar and a container of milk so that I could add just the amount I like. So thoughtful and kind.
They bounced back out for a moment but returned with a small delicate crystal tray and another floral plate.
On the floral plate was two pieces of lightly golden toast slices.
On the very small crystal tray all crammed together was two slices of cheddar cheese, a large jar of jam, a bucket of honey and a gallon of peanut butter - supersized!
It was so cute! This fancy little tray with these Costco sized jugs...all plunked on my knees in bed. I loved it!
For dessert, they had washed and sliced up some super sweet strawberries and had arranged a teeter tottering tower of whole berries. What a super sweet treat! Thanks girlies! I'm so lucky to have such wonderful daughters. I love you both.
Hope you all had a happy Mother's Day moment too...feel free to share any of your special moments with us in the comment section if you like.
